The small-scale thermal power plant

Introduction:

This corporate plans to set up a concurrent heat and electricity generation system in Dogharoon free zone. Having considered the statistics provided by Iran’s power industry publication, the annual electricity exports to the adjacent countries are declining due to an increase in internal electricity consumption of about 10% per annum, according to the “Khorasan Electric Distribution Company (KEDC)”.     (http://www.kedc.ir/)

- The small-scale thermal power plant

Generally, burning fossil fuels and their thermal energy are used to generate axial power and then convert it into electrical energy in today’s power generators. This mechanism has been leveraged by large power plants commonly.

On average, in thermal power plants having a key role in supplying the electricity needs of different societies, only one-third of the fuel energy is converted into useful energy. In another word, one of the most significant drawbacks of this mechanism is productivity issues.

In Iran, the usual productivity of thermal power plants is about 34% which means, in these plants, a lot of thermal energy is wasted in various ways, such as a condenser, boiler, cooling tower, pumps, and plumbing system which exist in the facility.

Moreover, there is a considerable waste in electricity transition network. To cope with, there is no waste of electric power generation if the electricity generates on the place of which it consumes.

-The advantages of these power plant systems

  • Easy to use
  • Cheap
  • Quick installation
  • Small space requirement
  • No need for water (there is no need for water in the main cycle of the power plant, but there is a need for water in the ancillary equipment, such as cooling at high speeds)
  • Quick to Launch
  • Not labor intensive

- Highly applied industries in CHP operation

  • Paper industry
  • Food processing
  • Textile Industry
  • Pharmaceutical Industries
  • Ceramic industry
  • Cement and Brick Industry
  • Wooden processes and wooden beams
  • Greenhouse and gardening industries
  • Oil refining industry
  • Desalination
